Drawing Faces

The human face
is one of the most recognizable and familiar things to us, from
the first moment we're born, and throughout our lives. What is it
that we really see when we look at a face, and how do we interpret
what we see?
Sit facing a partner, or in front of a mirror, with a pad of drawing paper
and a pencil or drawing pen. While looking only at the face in front
of you, draw what you see, without lifting your pen off the paper.
Try to get a feeling for the expression you are seeing, and notice
which parts of the face make that expression recognizable. Look
at what you have created! What aspects of yourself or your partner
does your drawing express the most? Now, have your partner change
expressions, and draw them again!
