Last year's interactive activity: "Way To GO!" - in the Kids Room, has to do with our use of energy, and also has some relevance to the topic of the environment. Part 1 - "You can't fuel me" - exploring fuel sources Part 2 - "Snack Attack!" - exploring fuels for your body **Our new Related Topic this year is: The Environment - It's your nature too! There are four categories for activities that you can do with your students before and/or after the show. THINKING AND TALKING (and writing!)- discussion topics on related curriculum topics, including science, literature, history, dance, cultural perspectives, and identity. Cultural Appreciation -Learning to appreciate similarities and differences between people and cultures. Climb your Family Tree - Discover the geography of your family tree, and find out what dance traditions you might have in your roots. Why and How We Dance- An exploration of human reasons to dance. MOVEMENT AND MUSIC - This category contains musical instrument information pages, plus several movement and dance activities for your classroom. Music is Math – Kathak clock - A bridge between mathematics and music, through rhythm cycles from India. Body Language - Give your students a chance to experiment with how our bodies and faces reveal our feelings, thoughts and ideas. Rhythm Dialogues - Have conversations in rhythm, with no words! Crossing Paths - Explore how our planned movements are influenced by the people around us. ART AND CONSTRUCTION - The activities in this category inspire students' own creations in preparation for and reflection of the show.Find Music Everywhere – Discover the music in everyday objects and make them sing! Get Ready - A drawing activity to increase awareness of how to be a great audience member! Picture Yourself... Guided imagination drawing or painting exercise, presenting YOU on stage in a dance performance. RECIPES - Yummy traditional recipes from around the world, which you can prepare at school or at home as a special treat.
